IN MEMORY OF

Stuart Lyddon

OUR STORY

The SLAGs were formed in 2005 in memory of our good friend Stuart Lyddon who died in March of that year from complications following a bone marrow transplant.

To date we have raised over £23,000 to pay for “Creature Comforts” for patients in King’s College Hospital’s Derek Mitchell Unit & Davidson Ward

For a long time, Stuart and a bunch of friends had a regular “beer and kebab” on a Thursday night so, in celebration of his life, that group of friends carried on the ritual and raised a glass (and a kebab) to Stu…

The Stuart Lyddon Appreciation Group was born!

JUNE 2005

We held our first golf day with the aim of having a bit of fun and maybe raising some money for “creature comforts” for patients on the Davidson Ward and Derek Mitchell Unit at King’s College Hospital where Stu had been treated.

Why "creature comforts"?

Whilst Stuart was preparing for and recovering from his bone marrow graft he noticed that there was little in the way of creature comforts for the patients, particularly those in the isolation rooms.

Stu resolved to do something about it...

including asking friends to bring items such as a small fridge for keeping drinks cool, support rings to prevent discomfort in bed and missing TV aerial leads when visiting him that he could then share with the other patients.

THE S.L.A.G.S.

are trying to continue this mission and all profits from our events are specifically for creature comfort items. Since 2005, we have raised over £15,000. This has come from our Golf Days, a fundraising concert by South Oxhey supergroup, Highly Strung and a sponsored walk by Stuart’s niece, Sophia Quintana.
